There is no New Zealand Sparrow. These common birds are the English House Sparrow, imported from UK for their sounds, and for eating insects on crops.
Most birds (and fish) have a single organ called the Cloaca, (also called the Vent), which performs the functions of excretion, as well as sexual reproduction. For reproduction the birds briefly touch their cloaca together to enable the transfer of sperm. Known as a 'cloacal kiss'.
There are some primitive mammals that still retain this organ, but in humans, this vanishes in embryo, to become differentiated into an anus, and a second group which offers a urinary tract, and sexual organs.
