AnswerBasically the point of the Safari Zone, also known as Pastoria Great Marsh, is to allow you to capture rare (and common) Pokemon that sometimes are not captured anywhere else in Sinnoh. After you obtain the National Pokedex, the Great Marsh is opened up to more Pokemon, whose appearance changes daily.

With the Pastoria Great Marsh, the normal Safari Zone rules apply:

It costs 500 Poke Dollars to get in

You cannot use your Poke Balls. Instead, you must use the 30 Safari Balls given

The game is over when you either run out of Safari Balls or have walked 500 steps

To weaken a Pokemon, you may throw mud at them

To increase the Pokemon's chances of staying, you may throw bait

You may run from an encountered Pokemon

You may retire by selecting that option from the menu

Additionally, you can ride 'Quick Trams' from one area to another to save walking. You may also see what Pokemon can be caught before you enter, by going up to the observatory and paying 100 Poke Dollars to look through the binoculars.

with a safari ball. it will make it easier to catch a Pokemon by throwing mud at it but will be more likely to flee. it will make it more difficult to catch a Pokemon by using bait, but the Pokemon will most likely not flee.
