To develop a bond or friendship with a Pokemon, you have to: Battle with it Win battles with it Take it to the Spa in The Resort Area Take it to get a massage in Veilstone city Nickname it Give it Poffins Enter it in Contests Win Contests with it Heal it when it's hurt Treat it's Status Problems Heal it with Berries Give it Status Enhancers (Zinc,Protein,Carbos,Calcium,Hp Up,) Let it hold items Level it Up Walk with it in your Party Get it Ribbons Do this stuff and your Pokemon will become fond of you in no time.

The word simply means that it is a virus that affects only Pokemon in the game.
