There were no tribal designs on Comanche tipis. Most tipis (around 90%) had no decoration of any kind - only an important warrior, a band or war chief or a medicine man might have the right to paint his tipi and then the designs would be entirely specific to that one person.
An early painting by George Catlin of Comanche tipis shows one with "calumet" designs painted in red - these are sacred long-stemmed pipes decorated with eagle feathers and carried by a war party leader.
Photographs of Comanche tipis taken throughout the 19th century show that almost all have no painted designs.

I find that if I am drawing one that needs to be symmetrical, I fold the drawing paper in half, draw on one side, then fold the paper and trace to the back, and finally open the paper and re-trace the one side so that the entire tribal piece is drawn on one side of the paper. Another thing I do is to just draw something out with pencil then start adding curves, points, and swirls and then erase any spots that you don't want touching and finish up by tracing the pencil outline with a good pen.
