Locating the owner of an apartment building can be a nightmare these days. You'll likely find a web of LLCs and corporations, and not know who the actual owner(s) is/are. If all goes well, these instructions will work fine.

1. Get the address of the apartment building and call your county tax assessor's office. Alternatively, you can visit their office. Give them the property address and ask for the owner's name.

2. With name in hand, is it a corporation or business entity? If yes, proceed to step 3. If not, you're done! You can get the owner's phone number by using a reputable online phonebook.

3. Contact your state's registrar of corporations and give them the name of the corporation or business entity who owns the property. They should be able to tell you who the owner of the corporation or business is. Then you can look up the name of the owner through a reputable online phonebook to contact him/her.

You can check the records at the tax assessor's office for the address of the property. The owner's name should be listed. After you have found the name of the owner in the assessor's records you can check the owner's name in the land records office in your jurisdiction to find the current deed to the property.
