On Pokemon Diamond should you use your Master Ball on Mesprit or Cresselia Arecues is not an option?
I think you can use it on Cresselia because if you make Masprite faint in will stop running and you can catch is, but not Cresselia! I haven't figured out how to get arceus yet, sorry!!!

First you have to go to the lake closest to your home town. Use surf and go to the little 'island' in the middle. enter and you will see mesprit. Go talk to mesprit and it will automaticaly flee (don't worry, you and mesprit just start playing a game of... 'tag'). All you have to do is look for mesprit with the Pokemon tracker and battle it. It's best to have a Pokemon that knows mean eye so it cant escape.

You have two chances to catch Mesprit. If you accidentally make it faint both times, you can't catch it anymore. If you made Mesprit faint once, find it, trap it, lower its hp to 1 using false swipe (you should have gotten the TM), let it escape, then encounter it again and use a quick ball.

Yes you can catch it when you defeat it but you have to beat the elite four and Cynthia for it to come back.

You go to the edge of two routes and walk back and forward until Mesprit eventually gets in the route you're in. What I did was waited by Solaceon Town and I went up and down beside it and eventually caught Mesprit in a Great Ball.

You have to follow the three legendaries (Mesprit, Uxie, and Azelf). They will show you little holes where you have to throw boulders in. Once you do that, you search for Cynthia. You and Cynthia will then find Giratina where you can catch it or make it faint. If you accidentally make Giratina faint, you can always catch him again later...
