Call them and tell them you want to cancel service. Most cable services require a converter box to work, so they'll probably insist that you return their equipment, but that's about all there is to it.

However, nearly all TVs you can buy today do not have a built-in antenna, and if you have an older TV which does it is likely not compatible with HD digital signals. Even if you do have an HD antenna you can hook up, it is likely not going to receive more than a couple of channels if you're lucky. In my area ... and I live in the suburbs of one of the ten largest cities in the US, so it's not exactly a small market ... there are exactly two broadcast towers with reasonable signal strength where I live.
