first you need to be at least level 15. If not i suggest you level up a bit. When you are lvl 15 equip yourself with a combat rifle and a sniper rifle. stand just near the pit but don't go in it. get out a powerful sniper rifle and snipe him. If you can't see him go to the other side of the pit then run back and he will follow you. keep shooting him in the head. eventually he will die. There is also a chance he will get stuck between a wall and the fence near the pit and he might not be able to attack you.
I also recommend transfusional grenades, MIRV grenades or bouncing bettie grenades
TIP: stay at mid range, so he can't throw his grenades at you but can't punch you. take out his backup first, leaving just one in case you need second wind at any stage.
