I think you're talking about Amity Square, where you can take a cute Pokémon for a walk. You can take: Pikachu, Psyduck, Happiny, Drifloon, Clefairy, Pachirisu and Buneary (pre-National Pokédex), and Jigglypuff, Torchic, Shroomrish and Skitty (post-National Pokédex).

Turn on the pokedex and look at the list if you see blank spaces those are Pokemon you haven't seen yet, if you see a Pokemon's name but no pokeball that means you have seen it but you don't own it, if you see a Pokemon's name and a pokeball that means you have seen it and have owned it.
