When it thickens to the point where you can't stir it, it's done. Put the dough on a cookie sheet. Cover it with a paper towel so that it doesn't dry out. You can also use a dish towel that's been wet and wrung out.
o 4
Put the whole pan full of dough on a good sized cookie sheet. After it cools down, knead the clay until it feels nice and smooth to the touch.
o 5
Roll the dough out and you can cut it with an Exacto knife or cookie cutters. You can also shape things with your hands or squeeze it through a cookie cutter bag. This clay makes lots of neat things - including great Christmas ornaments.
o 6
After you design your objects, let them air dry. The drying time will vary depending on the thickness of the item. Most things will be dry in about one day. You can put it into the oven at 350 degrees if you want to hasten the process with thick pieces, but it will air dry fully if you are patient.
o 7
Clay will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Seal it in a zipper type plastic bag, pressing most of the air out of it before you seal it.

Both types of clay are the same. You can use both types of clay to create things. I looked into this and found out that both dry up after a while if you want it to. If you want to paint the clay after it is dry is sort of a mystery to me. I absolutely know that after the crayola air dry clay drys you can definitely paint it. With other types of modeling clay, I am not so sure. I hope this helps.
you can with polymer clay but not with air dry or other kinds
hobby craft has a range of clay, air hardening and normal. I'm guessing all arts and crafts shops should have clay.
I have never heard of clay exploding unless your talking about the way clay explodes when its in a kiln for art purposes. In that case its not really the clay exploding, but the air bubbles inside of it becoming too great in pressure that the clay "pops" like a bubble letting the air out and leaving a mess.
they wrote on wet clay and left it dry
