Get yourself a few tubes of Green Glue and a couple of sheets of drywall. Apply the Green Glue to the inside walls of the closet and then screw the new drywall layers right over top. Use some acoustical caulk to seal the seams between the layers of drywall and then repaid the inside (if you need to). You'll notice a significant decrease in sound coming from the walls around the closet.
People looking for cheap home soundproofing solutions would do well to know a little about sound. Since there are different mediums, some of which aid in the travel of sound while others are resistant to it, knowing about them would help someone to choose the right soundproofing material. For example, since air offers little resistance to the flow of sound, some people try to block its flow to soundproof their rooms. Vibrations can also cause noise problems when sound waves travel back and forth between multiple objects or walls. Once the person gets an idea about materials and mediums that can resist the flow of sound waves, next begins his quest to find cheap soundproofing solutions.
For soundproofing walls, usage of Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) or visco-elastic material between two layers of sheetrock, which in turn are held using silicone caulking, can help. A person can also use soundproof paint over his existing paint to minimize the noise. Another cost effective sound absorbing material that comes easy on the pocket is sprayed-on cellulose.
If someone wants to soundproof the floors, he can use rubber flooring tiles that are interlocked with each other or rubber flooring rolls to great effect. Melamine tiles or acoustic carpets can also help in a person's home soundproofing endeavor.
People looking to block airborne noises like music or voices coming through their ceilings can use a mass-loaded vinyl barrier to get good results. Inserting resilient metal channels between the drywall and the studwork can also act as a cheap soundproofing option.
For keeping the sound coming through the doors and windows to a minimum, people can use fiberboard door having medium density or seal the door jambs with foam. Soundproof curtains and wall plugs are some other inexpensive ways to cut down the noise. Some people even go for wadded up paper and egg cartons to block noise.
In other words, a person needs to test a few of these cheap soundproofing solutions to see which of these abovementioned methods serve the best for soundproofing his room and the entire house. Since all these home soundproofing options don't cost a fortune, a person can easily use them to soundproof his home and get some solitude to relax and freshen up after a hard day's work.

bECAUSE IT IS SAD
There are many places where one can buy materials in an attempt to soundproof a room. These places include, but are not limited to, Lowe's, Ebay, and Amazon.
If I am trying to build a soundproof room, I would use foam and egg cartons for materials.
Maybe just the celing and floor?
It stays in the room and does not leak out into the surrounding areas. If you wanted to diffuse that sound you would use acoustical panels or acoustical baffles in order to absorb the sound from bouncing around the room. A soundproof room means it contains the sound in the room. Acoustical treatment is meant to diffuse and absorb the sound which is in the room.
If you are looking to build a home music studio, you will need materials to make the room soundproof. You will also need a computer system that will help make Cd's and instruments.
Of course soundproof foam will reduce the noise escaping from the room. If you cover the walls and ceiling there will be very little noise escape through the floor.
Adding mass can help make a room soundproof. Mass can mean another layer of drywall or a layer of Mass loaded vinyl etc. Then there are materials which can enhance the soundproofing properties of your existing materials. for instance using a sound clip like Whisper Clip will add resilience to your wall and ceiling thereby creating a much higher soundproofing value to your wall and ceiling . Another example is adding a damping compound like green Glue to your room.
I am about to reveal one of my most innermost secrets to you. You will find that the innermost room is soundproof.
It depends on what material you want to use. $1 to $5 per square foot of wall space and $300 to $950 each soundproof windows. This link should help you. See related links
Studio foam and fiberglass panels are meant to minimize the reflected sound in the room to improve the quality of the mix or performance. It is not designed to soundproof the room. The only way to truly soundproof a room is by using special building materials during construction, such as acoustic sheetrock, and isolating the vibration of the walls from external contact. Usually this involves creating a room within the room with an air barrier and isolating joist supports.
Usually very dense. sound cancelling material in the walls or coating the inside of the wall of the "soundproof" room. Also see Acoustic Foam.
