In Pokémon Diamond, before you can challenge the Gym Leader of Oreburgh City, Roark, you need to defeat several trainers within the Oreburgh Mine and the gym itself. Inside the Oreburgh Gym, you will encounter two trainers, each specializing in Rock-type Pokémon. After defeating these trainers, you'll be allowed to battle Roark for the Coal Badge.
if you get an explorer kit, go down and mine until you find an armor fossil. then go to oreburgh museum and give the armor fossil to the scientist at the counter. go outside and come back in with a free slot in your party. talk to the scientist and you have a shieldon! good luck!
Roark is the Oreburgh City gym leader that uses Rock-type pokemon. To find him, you have to go to the very back of the Oreburgh Mine and talk to him. He will then return to the gym. If you started with Turtwig or Piplup, you should have no problem with this gym. If you started with Chimchar this gym will be hard unless evolve it to learn fighting-type moves or catch a Budew in the field north of Jublife City.
The Museum is located in the top right corner of Oreburgh City. Hope this helps!!! :)
