Although the front of the unit has a window with a curved opening, giving the illusion of a front tilting "basket," in fact, there is no basket. Instead, think of the entire base of the unit as a trash receptacle, with the shredder sitting on top. Grip the top of the unit on each side and pull firmly, straight up. You might want to have someone hold the base down as you pull up, because if it spills---yikes----tiny shreds go all over the place!

First, get paper, sissors, string, and glue. Glue some paper together and make sure you can open it. Then, let it dry for an hour. Next, glue a piece of string on the back. Finally, glue any picture you want to the paper on the inside and you have a House of Anubis locket!
To fix a paper jam, you must first locate where in the printer the paper jam is, if your printer has multiple paper trays. * When you have located the jam, turn the printer off. * If you can see the paper, remove it slowly and carefully with both hands by pulling the edge out in the direction it would naturally be released. * Open the printer door to look for any stuck paper. * If there are bits of paper still inside the printer, take a piece of heavy-weight paper or cover stock and push it through the printer in the same path. This will push out any bits of paper. * Turn the printer back on. Repeat the steps if the printer still alerts you to a paper jam.
Throwing paper away leaves it open to all kinds of security issues. The information is not secure and it can be used for identity and finance fraud. Shredding anything with personal and financial information is much safer.
The power cord has no continuity in the "N" wire. I checked all three with an ohm meter and the "N" wire had no continuity. An "open" of some kind. I am now looking for a replacement power cord to avoid taking it apart and "hard wiring" a cord in. Office Depot claims not to have parts for these shredders, i.e., replacement power cords. A Dell computer power cord will not work. (At least mine didn't).
