It depends what you want to use it for. If you mean connect it so you can access songs, pics, videos etc, you need to set up a DLNA Media Server connection.

There are 2 different ways to achieve this. One is with media server and the other is using Windows Media Player. You can try http://ps3lanconnection.blogspot.com/ or www.exoticpages.info for detailed instructions.
Connect to existing internet source using WiFi or ethernet cable then go to network settings on the PS3 and complete the connection. If you have no internet you first need to purchase access.
