Thornton got caught in the river rapids, Buck took several attempts to save Thornton. At last, Thornton got a good hold of Buck's tail and Buck pulled he safely to shore.
Another time, Buck saved Thornton from losing a lot of money in a bet that Buck couldn't pull 1000 pounds on a sled. Buck proved those suckers wrong and pulled the sled full of sacks of grains with all his power.
