"Number the Stars" by Lois Lowry has a resolution where the Johansens manage to successfully smuggle Ellen, a Jewish girl, to safety in Sweden, with the help of the Resistance fighters. The war ends, and the family is reunited. Ellen returns after the war to find her family alive and well.
Ellen Rosen's dad in "Number the Stars" is named Mr. Rosen. He is a Jewish man living in Copenhagen during the time of the Nazi occupation in Denmark. He is forced to go into hiding to escape capture by the Nazis.
At the end of chapter 5 of Number the stars Annemarie finally lets go of Ellen's Star of David necklace.
When Mr. Rosen falls, he drops the package, but doesn't realize it. Annemarie runs it to Uncle Henrik. Later, Uncle Henrik explains that the package was a heinkerchief coated in cocaine and dried rabbit blood to mess up the German K-9s sense of smell when they tried to sniff Ellen out. She along with her parents and other Jews were concealed in a hidden compartment. Ellen made it to Sweden. The book doesn't say what happened afterward.
