∙ 14y agoWe never find out exactly. In the last scene, she and Mike are looking for Josh because they hear him screaming again in the middle of the night. They find that house in the middle of the woods (the house of that crazy guy who killed all the children), and they think they hear Josh screaming inside. They run through the house, looking for Josh, and Mike thinks he hears him in the basement.
Mike runs down to the basement, then there's a big thud,and Mike's camera falls to the floor and continues taping by itself. Then Heather runs down to the basement, and there's a thud, and then her camera falls to the floor and continues taping by itself. But just before Heather's camera falls, we see Mike standing in the corner, facing the wall.
If you recall, when the trio were doing interviews with the townspeople, at the beginning of the film, one of the men they interviewed told them about the children the old crazy guy had murdered. He said that the guy took the children down to the basement to kill them in pairs. He would have one of them stand facing into the corner while he killed the first one, because he "couldn't take the eyes on him," he couldn't stand the eyes of the other child watching him while he killed the first. So, we never find out exactly what happens, but presumably Mike and Heather are killed the same way the children were (however that was).

The Blair Witch Project is a documentary of 3 teenagers. They went up into the Blair Woods to make a documentary for school about the Blair Witch legend. The movie is spposed to look like it was filmed from Heathers Camera. The Blair witch legend is about a woman, in the 1700's accused of being a witch. The legend has lived on through many generations , and many still believe in it. The kids who went "missing" are not real teenagers, they are just actors and are not missing.The Blair Witch Project is a documentary based on the legend of the bell witch.This was a lady who was accused of being a witch and was executed for it. One of them disappears so there are only 2 people. They then find one of the others body parts (fingers, teeth) in a wrapped up bundle.They see sticks from trees in the shape of stick people hanging and also planted in the floor outside their tents, and they hear childrens laughter but they cant see anyone, this occurs in the middle of the night, whereas they wake up to see the stick figures.Right at the end, Heather Donahue, the only remaining student, runs into a abandoned house in fear, and she starts going up stairs but the camera started shaking vigorously until it lands on the floor and the film stops.It is presumed that all the students die. Apparently at the end of the film, in the credits, it says its not a true film. Wikipedia also classes it as a hoax documentary only basing it on the legend.Heather Donahue, Michael Williams and Joshua Leonard are real people but they used their real names as students for the film which confused IMDB because they listed it as their death dates when actually they are still making films.
