well it depends on which book your talking about. In the first four Hannah finds out who A was when she sent her a text on the wrong phone. When she wet to go tell Emily, Aria, and Spencer A hits her with her yellow SUV because "She knew to much". When Hannah recovered she couldn't remember anything. When her BFF Mona throws a welcome back party for Hannah they all think they discovered Allison's killer, Melisa (they were wrong) and Spencer goes with Mona (because apparently Mona was getting notes from A too) to turn her into the police. Something triggers Hannah's memory and she remembers who sent her the text. It was Mona. They all fit the pieces together when the relive OMG!! Spenser's with Mona so they text Spencer to warn her but Mona figures it out so she kidnaps Spencer and reveals her whole plan to her. She offers Spencer a chance to go back and convince them it wasn't her and continue to rule Rosewood. When Spencer turns her offer down Mona tries to strangle her leading to an intense fight near the lake where Spencer pushes her in the lake where she breaks her neck. So yep hope it helped. ok so at Mona's party, the big camp out thing, remember she sent texts to the girls saying her party was going to be a scavenger hunt to find the real A? well Hanna was uninvited from mona's party when mona and hanna got in a fight, but hanna came to the party anyway and stayed near in the woods secretly to spy on it and try to find A. and so mona, who was going around spying also because she had to set up the scavenger hunt for the other girls who were at the party, so mona saw hanna and hanna saw mona, so hanna knew that mona was a, and mona knew that hanna knew she was a, so mona ran hanna over in a truck like a hit and run because hanna knew too much so she wanted to stop her from being able to remember what she saw so she hit her. but then hanna wakes up and i guess she never really remembers seeing it
