How does The Devil's Advocate end?

Kevin (Keanu Reeves) goes goes back to the office to confront Milton (Al Pacino) with a pistol, demanding answers about what he did to Mary and whether or not he is his father.

Milton goes into a diatribe about the nature of God and how he abandoned humankind. He states that he is there to play into humankind's desires.

In addition, he plans to have Kevin and his sister conceive the Antichrist. However, it is up to Kevin to choose, due to free will.

He shoots himself in the head, causing Milton to scream, destroy the room, kill Kevin's sister, etc., at which point Kevin finds himself back in the bathroom of the key trial at the beginning.

He goes back into the courtroom, using the entire experience (of the movie) as a warning of his impending future, should he make the same decisions, and he chooses to step down as counselor for the child molester.

As such, the case is deemed a mistrial, and, as he walks out, feeling that he has made the right choice, he meets the reporter from the bathroom, telling him that he is going to make an exclusive about Kevin, being a rare lawyer who is acting on his conscience.

As Kevin, leaves, the reporter morphs into Milton, who claims that vanity is his favorite sin.
