Some examples of literary elements are characterization, imagery, and foreshadowing. Those elements of literature convey the theme of a story or novel by...well..it's pretty obvious. If an author is trying to portray a theme then he must show the theme by using elements such as imagery to describe the scene and where everything is taking place. Characterization shows a theme when you give a character certain traits, it helps the reader to imagine the scene better and it gets the author's point across to the readers.
A theme is one of the more 'well hidden' elements of a work and (probably) would require an examination of the entire work to illustrate it. With this in mind I give you the following short shorts as a matter of convenience.
a)
Here lies the body of Micheal O'day
who died defending his right-of-way.
His right was clear
His will was strong
and he's just as dead
as if he'd been wrong.
b)
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." Both these stories (different as they are in many ways) have the same theme.
'Some things are more important than others.'

Characterization, imagery, theme, setting. I find those to be the easiest to use.

It is difficult to determine a singular theme for the entire book, as it is a collection of short stories. If I were to look at "The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven" as a whole I would have to say that Alexie is trying to convey what life on the reservation is like, and the different ways that the residents cope with the daily tragedies and triumphs.
Literary effect refers to the impact that a writer's choices in language, structure, and style have on the reader. It is how these elements work together to create a particular mood, develop theme, or convey a message. This includes techniques such as symbolism, imagery, tone, and point of view that contribute to the overall meaning and interpretation of a work.

a literary genre that uses such devices as figurative language, rhyme, imagery, and prose to convey an idea or theme
The theme of a literary work is the central idea or underlying message that the author is trying to convey to readers. It is the universal truth or commentary about life that the story explores through various elements like plot, characters, and symbols. The theme is not explicitly stated but can be inferred through the overall content and context of the work.
An acceptable thesis statement for a thematic analysis essay could be: "Through the exploration of [theme], this essay will demonstrate how [literary work/author] uses [specific literary elements] to convey [central idea/argument]." This statement should clearly state the theme being analyzed, the literary work or author under discussion, and provide an indication of the specific elements that will be examined to support the argument.
The central message of a literary work is the main idea or theme that the author is trying to convey to the reader. It often reflects a deeper understanding or commentary on human nature, society, or life in general. It serves as a unifying concept that ties the various elements of the work together and helps the reader to interpret its meaning.
Both the poem and the story are forms of literary expression that convey a narrative or message to the audience. They both have elements such as characters, setting, and theme that come together to create a meaningful and engaging piece of writing. Additionally, both forms of writing often utilize literary devices like imagery, symbolism, and figurative language to enhance the reader's experience and convey deeper meanings.
Some of the literary terms used in "The Necklace" include irony (both situational and dramatic), characterization, symbolism, and theme (such as the dangers of vanity and the consequences of deceit). These elements help to convey the story's deeper meaning and enhance the reader's understanding of the characters and their motivations.
In "Touched by an Angel" by Maya Angelou, literary techniques such as metaphor, imagery, and repetition are used to convey the theme of love's transformative power. The poem uses metaphor to compare love to a βgiddy starβ and employs vivid imagery to evoke emotions. Repetition of the phrase "love is" reinforces the central message of the poem.
