In "Someone to Watch Over You," Lyo classifies infant attachment into four main types based on the work of Bowlby and Ainsworth: secure, avoidant, resistant, and disorganized. Secure attachment is characterized by a strong bond and comfort with exploration, while avoidant attachment indicates emotional distance. Resistant attachment reflects anxiety and clinginess, and disorganized attachment shows a lack of clear attachment behavior. These classifications help in understanding the impact of early relationships on later emotional and social development.

There are several types of blackmail, but they can generally be categorized into a few main types: traditional blackmail, where someone threatens to reveal damaging information unless paid; cyber blackmail, which involves threats made online, often through the use of hacked information or compromising images; and emotional blackmail, where an individual uses manipulation and fear to coerce someone into complying with their demands. Each type can vary in method and context but fundamentally revolves around coercion and threats for personal gain.

Face down on your stomach for a infant
Mary Ainsworth was a psychologist who studied attachment in young children. She developed a test known as the "strange situation". In the strange situation the infant (at least 7 or 8 months old, by now the child has developed stranger anxiety) and his or her mother would enter a room with toys. The mother would sit in a chair and put the child on the floor to have the opportunity to explore. After a while a stranger enters the room and attempts to play with the child. Then the mother leaves the child alone with the stranger and returns shortly. Ainsworth came up with four types of attachment from her observations. The attachment types are securely attached, insecurely attached - avoidant, insecurely attached - resistant, and insecurely attached - resistant. A securely attached infant will explore the environment as long as mom is there. The infant shows trust in parents and may or may not cry when the mother leaves. The infant will respond happily when mom returns to the room. The avoidant type infant ignores the parent's presence and response. They usually fail to cling to their mother. They also display only a few strong emotional outbursts. The resistant type is very hesitant to explore the new environment, even when mom is there. They are easily upset and it is hard to sooth them. These children are very frustrated with their mother's responses. The disorganized type has unpredictable behavior. They are hard to be comforted in stressful situations. They exhibit fear and confusion around their caregiver. They also show flat emotion. The secure attachment style is preferred. Securely attached infants will make sure that mom or dad is present and will explore their environment as long as the caregiver is there because they trust and feel safe with them. Other insecure attachment styles may have issues with separation anxiety when they are older. Others may have a tendency to wander off with any adult. Insecure attachment styles can be a sign that the infant is being abused or neglected.

The four types of attachment behavior are secure, insecure-avoidant, insecure-ambivalent, and disorganized. Secure attachment fosters healthy emotional and social development by providing a secure base for exploration. Insecure-avoidant attachment may lead to difficulties in forming close relationships, while insecure-ambivalent attachment can result in clingy and dependent behavior. Disorganized attachment may lead to emotional instability and difficulties in regulating emotions.
