Well, the similarities between those those two Socs and Greasers is that they both don't like fighting. They think it's pointless, because their wealth is the cause of the tension between these two groups And that is something out of their control, and fighting and killing will do nothing, and prove nothing.

He was also curios as to why did they did it in the first place; knowing that some of the public will still seem them as dirt afterwards. And then he was reflective because he was wondering if he would have done the same thing that Ponyboy, Dally and Johnny did. He was wondering if he would have risked his life for those kids.
