Half-Human actually gives more power to his other part, because Humans are basically greedy, arrogant. egoistical, etc. which in turn help during his fights ... Arrogance and ego give him the edge when it comes to not loosing LOSING no matter what. Then theres Pride, if you see yu yu hakusho, you will find out what I meant :D
well in the latest manga you find out that the hollow in side of him actually zangetsu and that what you thought was zangetsu was actually the quincy power and was supressing his full power the whole time.
