The DVD of a movie is not released until the movie is no longer playing in the major movie theaters. The usual interval between a movie being shown in the cinema and the DVD being released is three months.
It usually depends on who is producing the movie, what they want to include in the bonus features (weather or not their is any), if or if not their will be any backstage video, then putting all that film together, and the decoration on the main screen on the DVD and the decoration on the DVD its self. so it could be anywhere from 2-5 months. you must also take into consideration that sometimes DVDs are released on special days such as valentines day Christmas etc. so they may wait even longer for those specific days

well..... That depends, HDTV's have probably been around for about 3-5 years. BUT bear in mind that the cinemas have been HD since the 90's. And of course, watch this space, now that TV has caught up to cinema yet again, cinema will go 100% 3D within the next 5 years
It depends. If the film is quite popular, such as the new film Hunger Games, then it'll be there a while. Most movies that are popular stay a few weeks or even a month or two. Alternatively, the lesser known independent films, or ones with bad reviews only stay for about 2 to 3 weeks. Some films only stay in the theater as "special" one-week only showings to get you hyped up & bring more revenue. Overall, it varies.
