It depends om your definition of "Child." My definition: "A child is from moment of conception through early adolescence." In this case, a child should never be left alone!
they have to be at least 14.
Yes. In most states now children after age 14 participate in their own medical care, including the right to refuse that care. As a matter of fact, if a parent orders the doctor to treat the child and the child refuses, the child can sue both the parent and the doctor.
Not in the UK. (Assuming, from the question, that the child is an inpatient in the hospital, as opposed to a visitor who has been left there by a parent.) Adequate nursing supervision effectively counts as childcare, when your child is concious ( as opposed to asleep or being operated on).The only issue is that a child under 14 is unable to consent for any medical procedures (including cannulation, I think), which means that it is usually useful for a parent or guardian to be present, if medical treatment is going to be necessary. (14 it is usually assumed that a child is old enough to consent, however at 16 is becomes unequivocal. Moreover, at 14 is is more difficult to object to medical treatment, than it is to consent to it.)
Children in the state of Illinois can not be left home alone until the age of 14. When a child is left at home without an adult caretaker in Illinois, the parents or guardian can be charged with child endangerment.

According to the Office of the New Zealand Childrens' Commissioner, a child must be 14 years old to be left at home alone or in charge of younger children.
no because to be allowed to be left in on your own officially for a long period of time you have to be 13 or 14 at least so you are the age to have to be babysat rather than do the babysitting, Sorry.
my friend said she has to decide when she is 14 and i agree
physically no, emotionally yes. Most 14 year olds do not have the emotional capacity nor life experience to properly take care of and raise a child of their own as they are still a child themselves.
As long as you want as long as the 14 year old is responsible.
