∙ 10y agoAs of 2014, there are 36 regular geographic area codes in Canada, plus one special Canadian non-geographic code, 600. In addition, there are more than a dozen shared non-geographic codes, including toll-free codes (800, 888, 877, 866, 855, and 844) and others, that are shared among all the countries of the North American Numbering Plan (USA, Canada, and certain Caribbean/nearby islands). The 37th Canadian area code, 782, will go into effect as an overlay on 902 (Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island) on 2014-11-30, and the 38th and 39th codes are already planned for 2015 and 2016.
