Charles Whitman had no children. He did however have a wife, Kathleen Frances Leissner, and a dog named Schocie. It's ironic though, because after he murdered his wife he left a note asking for the dog to be returned to her parents because "Kathy loved "Schocie" very much." So there you go, hoped that was informative.

Charles Whitman, the University of Texas tower shooter in 1966, had a history of mental health issues and experienced intense emotional and physical distress at the time of the shooting. He had been seeking help for his mental health struggles but ultimately succumbed to violent impulses, leading to the tragic events on that day.
On August 1, 1966 at the University of Texas in Austin, an ex-marine named Charles Whitman got his 15 minutes of fame. Or in his case 96 minutes. After killing his mother the night before by stabbing her with a butcher knife and then shooting her in the back of the head, he killed his wife, also. Then he climbed the observation tower on U of T's campus where he preceeded to pick people of with a sniper rifle for 96 minutes. When police were finally able to get close enough, officer Ramiro Martinez shot and killed Whitman with a single shot. When the gunfire finally ended, 18 people lay dead and another 30 were wounded. One was a woman 8 months pregnant. A bullet shattered her unborn baby's head. Upon Whitman's own request written in a note, an autopsy revealed a brain tumor. Although the coroner felt this could not be the cause of the violence, it does leave one to wonder.
