South African Television was introduced in 1976. It was indroduced very late because the white government saw it as a threat. In 1981, a second channel was introduced and in 1986 the subscribtion based service M-Net was launched.

∙ 14y agoSouth Africa is probably the most civilized/developed country in Africa. We have every thing any other country has - maybe not as good as the Western World, but definitely the best in Africa. Some of us have television sets in each bedroom, living room or kitchen for that matter. so if you take an average of two television sets per 4-person family and SA has a population of 48 Million... then your bound to get more or less 24 million television sets, and then some of us have two or more houses and there are hotels an lodges which also has television sets - presumably.
