The amount of money required to make a film is the primary job of the film's producer and executive producer ( if there is one ). The director's financial duties are to finish the film on time and within the financial limits set by the producer. In some situations, the director may believe he needs to go over budget in order to complete the job. In these cases the director must obtain the permission of the producer.
