Taken from the Wheel of Fortune show guide links:
On October 14, 2008, newlywed Michelle Loewenstein became the biggest winner on Wheel of Fortune, winning $1 million. Until then, "The Bold and the Beautiful" star Jack Wagner and his partner Christine Denos of San Jose, Calif., were the big winners with $142,550 in cash and prizes during "Soap Stars Week" in 2006. Wagner donated his share to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Wheel of Fortune says that since it debut in 1983 it has awarded 190 million in cash and prizes to it's contestants. That number is old and they have awarded at least another 10 million since they posted the number but we can only go by the information that Wheel of Fortune provides at it site under the history and fun facts
Jeopardy was on first (1964), with Wheel of Fortune beginning its appearances in 1975. But the current syndicated run of Jeopardy began a year after Wheel of Fortune had moved to syndication (Wheel on September 19, 1983 and Jeopardy on September 10,1984). Wheel of Fortune has both more shows and more seasons in either daytime or syndicated formats.Jeopardy first aired on March 30 1964 until it was cancelled on January 3 1975. The weekly syndicated show ran from September 1974 until September 1975 and was brought back as a daily show in Oct 1978 till Mar 1979. The daytime Wheel of Fortune began almost 10 years after Jeopardy on January 6 1975 and continued until June 30 1989 with over 3000 episodes. The current nighttime Jeopardy syndicated show started in 1984, a year after Wheel of Fortune. However, Jeopardy has had more episodes during their syndicated show than the number of episodes of the Wheel of Fortune syndicated nighttime show, which began on 19 September 1983. So Jeopardy started first only if you count the non-syndicated cancelled shows. If you go by total time, Wheel of Fortune has been on for more TV seasons for both the new syndicated show and the older Daytime shows. So you can see it depends on how you want to decide what to count.
"Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune" did not switch from NBC to CBS; both shows have been associated with NBC for much of their histories. "Jeopardy!" premiered on NBC in 1964 and was revived in 1984, while "Wheel of Fortune" debuted in 1975 on NBC. Both shows remained on NBC until they were moved to syndication in the 1980s. As of now, they continue to air in syndication, primarily on local stations rather than being tied to a specific network.
He was joking with Vanna White and said that since they had raised the prize to $30,000 as the minimum for the bonus round they had him using a marker to change the $25,000 wedges to read $30,000 because Wheel of Fortune was losing money. This happened on the encore episode from September 17 2010 that aired again on June 16 2011. It was more of an announcement that the prize for the bonus round would now be a minimum of $30,000 and if you won a car you would also win$5,000 in cash.
Good is only slightly better than poor. Accommodation are much better than just good depending on who is doing the rating and what there expectations are.

There have been 75 shows since that time and in just the last 5 they gave away another 300,000 dollars.
