Aurora is first shown as a newborn. This is when Malificent puts a curse on her that states that Aurora will prick her finger by her 16th birthday and die (the last part of the curse gets changed to a deep sleep my Merryweather). The next time Aurora appears is on her 16th birthday. The majority of the story takes place when she is newly 16.

∙ 14y agoIn the Disney version, she had just turned 16 when she was stricken by the curse. If she'd waited 5-10 minutes when the sun had set, the curse would have been cancelled.
