King David was 70 Years old when he died
We know this from one definitive verse in The Bible: 2 Samuel 5:4
David was 30 old when he began to reign, and he reigned 40 years.
David reigned in Israel 40 years. It goes on to summarize where that 40 years were spent; 7 in Hebron (near his hometown of Bethlehem. while on the run from Saul, and 33 years in Jerusalem, where He finally gained control of the monarchy.
He reigned for forty years as did his successor, King David and his successor and son, King Solomon.

According to the Sages (in Seder Olam), he reigned for two years (1 Samuel 13:1).
Saul became the first Hebrew king.
No. According to the Bible, King David was more successful in battles than King Saul. In fact, this became a major issue between the two individuals when the townspeople would say "Saul has killed his thousands, but David has killed tens of thousands."
King David was born sometime around 1050 B.C. and died in 970 B.C. Was anointed by Samuel to be the successor to King Saul (without Saul's knowledge) because Saul had turned away from God. He became known for killing Goliath and eventually became the leader of Saul's armies. Saul became violently jealous of David's popularity and tried to have him killed, which resulted in David fleeing and going into hiding until Saul's death. When Saul died David became King of Israel and re-united all twelve tribes, reigning for about 40 years. He was succeeded by his son Solomon. I recommend reading 1&2 Samuel to get the whole story. :)
Jonathan was Saul's son. Saul was the King before David became king.
Saul of the Old Testament who knew David is a different person to the man Saul who was renamed Paul in the New Testament. They lived many years apart. St. Paul is the Saul of the New Testament not the King in the Old Testament.
