Horses are measured in "hands". One hand is about 10 cm or 4 in. Most horses are somewhere between 14-17 hands, but 17 hands is about as tall as you will see them, even though the record I'm sure is taller. But the breed makes all the diffrence.

You commonly see horses up to 18h ish!
I wouldn't say there was an average. 14.3hh and over is classed as a horse 14.2hh and under is a pony. The most common sizes for horses are anything from 14.3hh to 17hh. You will probably find less horses measuring over 17hh.
Well really it depends on the breed of horse
a horse is 14.2 hands and above and a pony is 14.2 and below
Any individual horse that is 14.2 hands or under is classified as a pony. Any horse that is over 14.2 hands high is classified as a horse.
1 Hand is 4 inches so 14 hands is 56 inches or 4 feet 8 inches
well, one hand is four inches, and every .1 is another inch, so 14.3 would be:
14x4= 56
56"+3"= 59", or 4 feet, 11 inches
A hand is equal to 4 inches - so - 14.1 hands is 56.4 inches, or just over 4 feet 6 inches.
That would be 53 inches at the withers. ( 4 feet 5 inches).
There isn't a maximum height for a horse. However, the average height for a horse is around 62 inches tall.
A seahorse is on average 10cm of height

Well, it's just nice to know how tall your horse is. And also, some registries have strict regulations on height, so to see if your horse meets these regulations, you need to know his height.
the breed doesn't really matter...the height of the horse matters.

It depends on what you want to do with the horse. Choose the horse for the horse, not it's height.
The sex of a horse does not affect the height so much as genetics and breed affect the height of a horse. Mares can be any height.
14.3 hands or taller. that is the minimal height for a horse.
Average height for a Swedish horse may be from 15.2hh - 16hh +
It quite depends on the breeding of the horse.

pony
The point on the horse is the height measurement taken is the withers.
a horse is bigger than 13hh and a pony is smaller than that A horse is any height over 14.3 hands, a pony is under that height.
The weight of an adult horse depends of the height and breed of the horse, also what type of work the horse is in.
