Berber is known to snag through, under certain circumstances. The snags are annoying and can get caught up in vacuum cleaner rollers so they need attention immediately. For a smaller snag, the repair is simple. With a strong glue, such as Super Glue or Gorilla Glue or even a carpet product, apply a small drop on the end of the snag. Push the snagged piece of carpeting down into the base of the carpet. Do not allow the glue to drip onto other parts of carpeting. The larger areas of severely damaged carpeting will have to be removed. Another piece of like-carpet can be glued down in its place with some carpet glue. Once the carpet piece is cut carefully, matching weave, texture and size of the piece that was removed, the blending should be hidden. Often, a fireplace will spew out pieces of burning wood, which will leave burn marks on a carpet. The easiest method to carpet repair in this case would be to cut off the burned fiber.
