The Titanic was advertised as the biggest, most beautiful ship the world had ever seen. The largest moving object ever created by humans. The Ship of Dreams. The Queen of the Ocean. But above all, she was advertised as "unsinkable."
The sinking of Titanic was reported very poorly by various newspapers who speculated and were given wrong information but the New York Times was the first paper to accurately report that Titanic had, in fact, sunk.
It was only sometime after the disaster that the Titanic was described as "unsinkable". (An attribute that no ship would ever deliberately claim.)
