It started out in black and white then transitioned to color in the Cyclone sequence- Having seen it only in Black and White I was not aware of this. It was probably the first feature-length fantasy film that was NOT a Cartoon- unlike Snow White which was a cartoon. With the exception of Dorothy, few of the characters have real names- and this policy of anonymity is a little annoying and would inhibit conversation. This is not a problem with a crowd scene on a subway platform, for example. Tell you the truth, I never liked Wizard of Oz.
