Can the mother name anyone she wants as the birth father on the birth certificate?

Here in the Philippines, a mother can not just name any person as the father of her child in the Birth Certificate. They will look for a marriage contract as their reference when you named your child under his/her father's surname. Or if not married, they let the father fill up the Affidavit of Acknowledgement/Admission of Paternity at the back of the Birth Certificate.

Can bio-mother add step father to birth certificate without notifying biological father and step father not adopted child?

no, changing the birth certificate requires adoption, and can only be done if the birth father's parental rights have been terminated.

How long does a father have to sign the birth certificate?

The mother must be of course. Yet, if the father can not be then no, or if you don't want the father to sign he does not have to. In Michigan when a child is born the mother fills out a form. The mother is asked if she is married and instructed based on her answer what information is needed. Paternity is established through court. If you are married or the father accepts paternity it is a legal matter. I'm still amazed at people stating the father signed the birth certificate. In Michigan there is no place on the certificate for any signature outside of the doctors.

If a birth mother was using Medicaid to pay for her pregnancy and you adopt her baby do you have to pay Medicaid back for the amounts they spent on the mother and baby?

In Michigan we adopted an infant girl that was on medicaid and so was the birth mother, we didn't have to pay back medicaid. We adopted her through the foster parent program, and yes we did take her home from the hospital after her birth.

Do you have to pay back medicade?

Yes, if the mother is on Medicaid the insurance will cover the cost of the hospital bills in full. If the mother is not married to the father the state will come after the father for the expenses to reimburse the cost of the birth.

If you already have Medicaid and your pregnant and want to get married to the father of the baby will me and he baby still be able to have Medicaid?

After approval for medicaid due to pregnancy, both you and your unborn child should remain covered by medicaid through the duration of your pregnancy, plus two months past the month of childbirth. After the birth of your child, the baby should be eligible for newborn medicaid. Both parents of an eligible child may or may not become eligible for medicaid, depending on income and other factors.

Does medicaid stop coverage for pregnancy if marriage occurs before the birth?

No. If you get married, I would wait till after the baby is born to change your information such as last name social security number, it will confuse medicaid or they might have to restart your medicaid .It is what I did. Hope this helps.
