If the titanic had hit the iceberg straight on would it have not sank?

Some theories suggest that had the ship's crew not attempted to turn the ship in the opposite direction of the iceberg and instead took the blow head-on, the collision would not have resulted in such catastrophic disaster.

It may have, no on knows for sure. But it would have had a better chance of not sinking because the hull was made stronger and it may have only damaged one or two of the first few compartments. The boat was made to be able to float the first four compartments with out sinking the ship. When the Titanic hit the iceberg it gouged a hole and filled more than four compartments.

From my common sense, which is unfortunately not very good, I would say there would have been more deaths because of the fast sinking if it had hit the iceberg straight on.

It all depends on how it was hit and where it was hit. I don't think anybody would die because we would have to have enough life boats (it's the law). So no I don't think so.
