In 'A Streetcar Named Desire' how is Blanche's drinking problem introduced?

Our very first moment where we see Blanche depending on alcohol is when she first enters Stella's appartment through the stage directions 'she pours a half tumbler of whiskey and tosses it down'. (scene one, page 5 in the modern classics penguin version).
The fact that her eyes instantly find the bottle is one indication of her problem but also how she 'tosses' it down as opposed to sipping or drinking it. This shows she's used to it. Also how she uses the alcohol to cover her nerves and fragile nature.
