one of the most obvious similarities is that both of them broke away from the catholic church. another similarity that is not as obvious is that both broke up monastaries. however they broke them up for many different reasons. both changed stuff from catholisim. Henry viii allowed divorces, while martin Luther change indulgences.
Africa, if you look closley at the shape of the southeastern part of Africa you can see were Madagascar broke away.
Great Britain divided its colony along religious lines, but this division created a country-Pakistan-composed of two halves separated by hundreds of miles. East Pakistan felt that it had no real power in Pakistan's government, so it broke away and became Bangladesh.

In 1959, Singapore was granted Self-Government status, which means Singapore could form it's own government to govern the internal running of the country, but was still defended by the British and came under their authority for external matters like international trade and military matters. Then in 1963, Singapore merged with Malaya to form Malaysia and thus broke away from British rule totally. Independence came only in 1965, when Singapore broke away from Malaysia to become an independent island nation.

The initial plan was for Singapore,Brunei,Malaya,Sarawak and Sabah to be consolidated into a country called Malaysia. Brunei did not take up the offer. Singapore initially agreed to but later pulled away as it felt its people will not get a fair deal. Today Malaysia is formed of West Malaysia and East Malaysia consisting of Sabah and Sarawak
