In Pokemon diamond i have a Togepi but when i put in the day care with a ditto it won't lay an egg what do i do?

Well you have to walk like 1500 steps before they lay an egg. So if you are just standing there you are obviously doing it wrong. Take your bike and run around a lot.

No. If you breed a ditto with another pokemon- you will get that one and not a ditto. I don't think breeding two dittos will work though because they are genderless pokemon.
