Because they all tell the same story.
"But all the story of the night told over,
And all their minds transfigured so together,
More witnesseth than fancy's images
And grows to something of great constancy;
But, howsoever, strange and admirable."
Grr! Somebody answer this already!??!
Theseus has the role of an authority figure, blocking the romance of Hermia and Lysander, and providing the motivation for them to enter the forest. Later, in the same role, Theseus is able to provide reconciliation and resolution to the lovers' situation by allowing them to pair off in the way they desire. Theseus and Hippolyta together provide the occasion of an upcoming marriage. This is the pretext for the mechanicals' play. Their wedding also becomes the event around which the final action in the play coalesces: the play Pyramus and Thisbe and the wedding of the lovers. Theseus as an authority figure can only operate in the town; in the forest he is beyond his jurisdiction, which is why Hermia and Lysander go there. For so long as the action is in the forest, Theseus is absent. Oberon is the king there.
I believe there were 12 Jennys.
Yes. He played True Son in Disney's film of Conrad Ritchter's novel The Light in the Forest. I believe it was in 1958. The beginning for him of a long association with Disney.

Hippolyta believes the lovers' story about their time in the forest because Theseus, her husband, confirms it. Theseus trusts the words of the lovers, and as his wife, Hippolyta also accepts their account of the fantastical events that took place during their time in the woods.
The climax of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" occurs when the four lovers - Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius, and Helena - are found in the forest by Theseus and Hippolyta. The misunderstandings and confusion between them are revealed, leading to their love interests being resolved.
In "A Midsummer Night's Dream," May Day is celebrated with the wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta. The play opens with Theseus declaring his intention to marry Hippolyta on May 1st, which is traditionally associated with the beginning of summer and fertility. This setting provides a backdrop for the magical events that unfold in the enchanted forest on this auspicious day.
Comedy and Romance
its all based on opinion. I'd prefer a forest type of scene.
The exposition of A Midsummer Night's Dream sets the scene in Athens where Duke Theseus is preparing for his wedding to Hippolyta, while Hermia is being forced to marry Demetrius against her wishes. The four lovers escape to the forest, and the fairy king Oberon meddles with their love lives using a magical flower.
The forest in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" symbolizes transformation, freedom, and chaos. It serves as a magical realm where characters escape societal norms, find their true desires, and undergo personal growth. The forest's mystical atmosphere blurs realities, allowing for the exploration of love, reconciliation, and self-discovery among the characters.
You are talking as if the events in the play really happened. They did not. Nobody would mistake this play for anything but a fantasy. Theseus and Hippolyta are legendary figures from the Greek past. Oberon and Titania are equally mythological figures from Germanic mythology. The rude mechanicals are obviously contemporary English. It does not make sense to try to find a temporal setting for the play.
The climax of the A Midsummer Night's Dream is when they all go to the forest.
Gary in the early edition practice of Midsummer Nights Dream repeated the line about a band of bumbling rustic cross paths. He was determined to make everyone feel the experience of a magical moonlit forest on a midsummer night.
the forest where all lovers make love
Hippolyta may believe the lovers' story about their time in the forest because of the magical and otherworldly nature of the forest, which is known to cause unusual experiences. Additionally, the sincerity and emotional conviction of the lovers may have convinced her of the truth of their account.
