Kopa doesn't exist in canon as is evident from the film makers's commentary track on the DVD. He is only in the fanfiction children books, and even in them, Simba doesn't banish him. Nothing fatal happens to Kopa in those books.
There is no movie about Six New Adventures. But immediately after the original Lion King movie, Disney came out with a book series called "The Lion King: Six New Adventures." In each book, Simba tells a story to his young son, Kopa, about adventures in the Pridelands. Simba hopes Kopa will learn a lesson from these stories.
Mohatu Ahadi Uru Taka(Scar) Sarabi Simba Cub Nala Cub Simba Kiara Kovu Timon Pumbaa Kopa Vitani
Great question! I think even Walt Disney animation studios themselves are undecided about this. The small cub we see at the end of The Lion King looks very different from the cub we see at the beginning of The Lion King II. Disney came out with a book series called "The Lion King: Six New Adventures" almost immediately after the first movie. In those books, Simba tells a series of stories to his son, Kopa. But when The Lion King II came out, and Simba had a daughter instead, fans wanted to know-- what happened to Kopa? Disney has never come up with an official explanation other than the fact that they decided to go a different direction and give Simba a daughter. So is Kopa real? I don't think anyone really knows. ;-)
Kopa is the son of Simba and Nala who first appears in a novel series, The Lion King: Six New Adventures. However, he does not exist in the movie universe when the filmmakers on the audio commentary heard on the DVD and Blu-Ray releases named the cub seen at the end the unisex name, "Fluffy". In the official sequel, The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, Kopa's existence is never mentioned, and "Fluffy" was created into a daughter named Kiara.
In the Disney movie The Lion King, Simba falls in love with Nala. She was his childhood friend. Several people told them when they were young that it was tradition for them to get married, but neither of them liked this idea very much. Until they grew up, that is. :)

Nala. Since childhood, they were betrothed, or had an arranged marriage.
Kopa was a lion
No, in swahili, the word lion is simba, like from the lion king, simba=lion.

Simba's best friend in the first Lion King was Nala.
