He has never touched a drop of liquor and he never smokes, unless he is upset, such as after Sandy leaves. Sandy, on the other hand, is sent to live with a relative in Florida, because her parents or any parents in the 1960s would have made her do that. It was not in any way socially acceptable to have a baby out of wedlock at that time.
