I have been asking the same question but no one knows the answer. The best thing I believe is to contact the Warner Bros company. They probably must have a record of where it was filmed. I hope it was not in a movie set. Additional information After making some research I am certain that the balcony scene was filmed in a Hotel (Pensione) located in Val Gardena. in the Trentino Region (close to Bolzano) The Hotel is either located in the town of Selva di Gardena or in the town of S. Cristina. In the scene where Don is speaking with the Hotel owner you would see a Castle in the background. That is the Val Gardena Castle which is between the two towns mentioned but so far I have not come out with the name of the Hotel. After more than 45 years since the movie was filmed, probably the Hotel (Pensione) which means room and board no longer exist or it went thru some changes which it might be difficult to recognize. But nevertheless if it exist it must be in the vecinity of the Castel Gardena. Hope someone else could provide some additional information.

It was the "Pencione" Sorry, but "Pensione" (generic word) would only indicate that the lodge or Hotel will rent their rooms including meals, usually it will be breakfast and dinner. But the Hotel or "Pensione" will have a name of its own. Thanks any way.

American writer William Porter never explained how he came up with his penname O. Henry. There are a few popular theories: * The Harrells, with whom Porter stayed in Austin, had a cat named Henry that Porter would play with. The cat would come running when Porter would shout "Oh, Henry!" * He took the name from the place he was imprisoned, the Ohio Penitentiary. * In New Orleans, before he left for Honduras, Porter would often call to the , bartender in the saloon and often said "Oh Henry, set 'em up again!"
