HIP stands for Healthy Indiana Plan and it is a health insurance program created for uninsured Hoosiers, between the ages of 19 to 64, created by Governor Daniels and the Indiana General Assembly in 2007. The program is state sponsored, although it does require minimal monthly contributions from the participant. HIP offers full health benefits including hospital services, mental health care, physician services, prescriptions and diagnostic exams.
