Citizen Kane, by Orson Welles.
"Rosebud" was the name of the famous sled. However, Charles Foster Kane had two sleds in the movie: "Rosebud" (the one he loved and lost when Thatcher took him away) and "The Crusader" (the one he despised when Thatcher gave it to him).
Rosebud was Kanes snow sled he had from when he was a boy. He never wanted money and was thinking back to when he didn't have any as the happiest time of his life, at least that's the way I saw it. Wells has never explained it.
There is a book called Rosebud by Ludwig Bemelmans. There is Princess Rosebud in How To Love A Unicorn. There is also a movie with a dog called Rosebud made by Disney.
The word Rosebud has many meanings in films. It is most well known in the film Citizen Kane as this word was used at the end of the film. Rosebud was the name of the sled in the film and represented the turning point in their life.

"Rosebud" was said by Orson Welles in "Citizen Kane" (1941).
It refers to the sled he had as a little boy when he was taken away from his parents. That time was the only time in his life that he was truly happy.
Rosebud is the name printed on the sleigh/sled that Kane had as a little boy and is his last fond memory of a lost innocence and happy childhood. Hence as he is dying he gazes into the snow-globe and nostalgically recalls the happiness of his lost innocence, a happiness that none of his successes, adulation and material wealth have been able to replicate. He dies whispering "Rosebud..." as an invocation. The snow-globe falls from his lifeless hand and goes rattling across the floor...the movie begins.
