Infantilization of indigenous peoples
The migration of indigenous peoples into the Caribbean, primarily the Arawaks and Caribs, was driven by a combination of factors, including the search for new resources, improved agricultural opportunities, and population pressures in their original territories. These groups navigated the waters of the Caribbean in canoes, settling on various islands, where they established communities and engaged in farming, fishing, and trade. Environmental changes and conflicts with neighboring tribes also played a role in their movement across the region.

Answer Mostly Christianity
Religions are grievous concept of our times, as most of us do not follow what the religions stood for originally. None of the religions preached any impairment to humanity. They always advocated peaceful coexistence. Presently, the indigenous religions are threatened by egotism of religious perceptors and the absence of proper discernment of the holy preachings of the religions at the time of their origin.
Modern civilization has had little impact on the spiritual lives of indigenous peoples. They continue to practice indigenous religions. There are thousand of people groups who have not been evangelized.
It depends on which region you are speaking of.
