From what I can tell from the Discover Card website, Discover Card is not accepted at merchants in Sweden, as of 2014. However, you can use your Discover Card for cash advances on ATMs in the "pulse" network worldwide, including in Sweden.

Yes and no. There are something called the PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industy - Data Security Standard) that governs this for most major cards such as Visa and MasterCard. This doesn't only apply to Sweden but all over the world since it's published by the card issuers themselves. According to those rules it is allowed to store certain credit card data, but in order to do so you need to have some pretty strict security stuff in place and go through som pretty strict certification which will be pretty expensive. My sugestion is that you don't store any credit card info and go through a payment solution provider that will handle the credit card transactions for you. _______________________________ You do realize that Swedish law does not affect you if you're based outside of Sweden; if it's permitted where your store is based then you can do it. As an example it is illegal to advertize certain items in Swedish television but it is fine if you're based outside and are relaying the signal.
