Yes, the election process is regarded as free and fair in France. Any French national aged over 18 is allowed to vote regardless of gender, social status or other distinction. In national elections, the media exposition of the candidates is monitored to ensure that they have an equal access to national medias, especially TVs and radio stations, even though the candidate is not part of any mainstream political party. Campaign expenses are also monitored, published and submitted to an independent comittee. In case the spending rules are breached the candidate may be suspended or stripped from his electoral victory. (that happened even to candidates of any of the major political parties, for very minor expenses).
